The truth about 56k modem: So your next-door ISP has upgraded to 56k digital modem. Will it mean a speedier connection and surfing?

Not really. You see, even if an ISP has a dial-up 56k digital modem, you are still not guaranteed a speedy download because it all boils down to the bandwidth from the ISP going to international Internet. So the 56k speed is only true between the client dialling-in to the ISP. But after the ISP, the real test for speed is measured by the ISP's Internet connection bandwidth. You will later discover that the actual download speed is no greater than 16kbps or 24kbps.

What about other means of connection? Aside from the COST, there are other disadvantages. Satellite is fast in download but vulnerable to rain and prone to disconnection. Cable-modem? Well, if you have a cableTV connection and can afford the extra equipment cluttering your premises.

That is why, we at Philcom OnLink still believe we offer a competitive advantage to our clients. It may be that our modems are still 33kbps at the moment, BUT, we guarantee you will get THAT speed.  Now, that is fast and furious...

And don't despair, our 56k modems are coming in to support our BIG bandwidth.

Because for us at OnLink, customer satisfaction is our prime goal..
